Leeward Maroons of Accompong
The sky-blue background of the Windward Maroon flag symbolizes "never change, never go away," while a dark green sliver represents Maroon land. A white abeng (side-blown horn) rests on a red rectangle, whose color stands for the blood shed in their fight for freedom.
"Whenever the abeng is blown in our village, it calls us to duty." Colonel M.L. Wright, leader of the Leeward Maroons, Accompong, Jamaica, 1992 |
