  • Smithsonian Folklife and Oral History Interviewing Guide Now Available in Tibetan

We are pleased to announce the completion of a Tibetan translation of the Smithsonian Folklife and Oral History Interviewing Guide. Developed in response to numerous conversations with Tibetans mentioning a need for Tibetan-language training materials, this translation is one of the first open-access cultural documentation training resources available in Tibetan. It assumes no prior knowledge of folklife studies and introduces topics including interviewing and interview questions, research ethics, and innovative ways to present research findings. The guide was originally written by the Folklife curator Marjorie Hunt and translated by Tsering Samdrup of University of Oslo.
